Messages at the Border
Documentary | 68 minutes | 2016
Sergi Cámara, a documentary photojournalist with over 10 years at Europe’s southern frontier, is photographing long-term immigrants and sharing their messages for new arrivals. The work will be displayed at Ceuta’s Centre for Temporary Stay of Immigrants, where over 800 people await approval to enter mainland Spain.




In Dialogue

Philosopher Sira Abenoza, applying her Socratic dialogue method, brings together former IRA and Unionist members, a British soldier, and a policeman in Northern Ireland. Together, they engage in dialogue described as “a path towards the unknown” and “the only way to build peace.”

Dresden Refuge
Documentary | 57 minutes | 2016
In 2015, Germany was the only European country with an open-door refugee policy, welcoming one million people, mostly from Syria. In Dresden, some organizations support newcomers while others draw on history to oppose them. Dresden Refuge shows that accepting refugees has been part of Germany’s history since World War II.



The Human Library

After Poland’s 2015 elections, the ultra-conservative Law and Justice party gained power, promoting a nationalist agenda and anti-immigrant sentiment. In response, initiatives like the Wroclaw Human Library have emerged, turning people who face discrimination into “living books” to share their stories and promote tolerance in a society unaccustomed to diversity.

Sounds of Resilience

Basque artist Maite Arroitajauregi “Mursego” travels to Sarajevo and Gorazde to create a musical tribute to the 22 civilians killed while queuing for bread, inspired by Vedran Smailović, the “Cellist of Sarajevo.” Through testimonies from locals, fighters, veterans, and musicians, she explores the consequences of war and the healing power of music.



Silence Democracy
Documentary | 52 minutes | 2016
Ranked 148th in press freedom by Reporters Without Borders, Russia restricts expression, though only 11% of the population voices dissatisfaction. This documentary highlights those who suffer for speaking out—journalists, activists, lawyers, artists, and political opponents—revealing the government’s methods of suppression amid Vladimir Putin’s 82% popularity.

Common Borders
Documentary | 53 minutes | 2016
Since 1974, Cyprus has been divided by Europe’s only remaining wall, separating Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Basque verse improviser Amets Arzallus travels there to explore the conflict’s human impact, meeting local musicians and poets, while reflecting on parallels with his own life near the Basque Country’s border.



Street Dancers

The art collective Sra Polaroiska (Alaitz Arenzana and Maria Ibarretxe) leads a dance workshop with young Romani in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, preparing a city-centre performance. Street Dancers explores how dance and the arts combat prejudice, social exclusion, and fear of difference, while highlighting the Romani community’s precarious situation.

In The Process

The Kosovo War left over 13,000 dead or missing. Seventeen years later, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers investigates alleged crimes by senior Kosovo Liberation Army officers, including President Hashim Thaçi. The documentary explores Kosovan society’s responses, with victims, politicians, veterans, and artists reflecting on confronting the past to build peace.



School on the Move

Fatima, Hassen, Delsher… these names represent millions of children forced to cross borders, many losing access to education. School on the Move offers Syrian children at Cherso refugee camp in Thessaloniki the chance to create an animated short film, expressing their worries and dreams about the school they lack.
